MyDivert.com Call Forwarding Service - FAQ

Do DID numbers Support Callback?
We do not guarantee that our DID numbers can be used with call back services (i.e. when you call the number, let it ring and hang up, the system calls you back and you get dial-tone).

CID set by user device - for pbx trunks
Configuration example for Asterisk 1.6 pbx to send CID using mydivert.com sip trunk.

Enable Caller ID 'Set by user device' from your account page.

In your asterisk sip.conf file set something like this:

[general]
callerid = Anonymous

register => SIPUSERNAME:SIPPASSWORD@sip.mydivert.com/SIPUSERNAME

[mydivert]
;here we place the sip settings for mydivert.com

;here is our example extension that wants to send a CID

[8000]
insecure = no
canreinvite = no
regexten = 8000
dtmf = rfc2833
context = sip-phone
host = dynamic
type = friend
username = 8000
secret = 1234
nat = yes

In extensions.conf the CID would be set like this (we are setting 353539431111):

[sip-phone]
exten => _X.,1,Answer
exten => _X.,2,Set(CALLERID(name)=353539431111)
exten => _X.,3,Set(CALLERID(num)=353539431111)
exten => _X.,4,Dial(SIP/${EXTEN}@mydivert,60,r)
exten => _X.,5,Hangup

If you are using FreePBX here are some tips:

add sendrpid=yes to the trunk's PEER Details on the FreePBX GUI

The CallerID Number format is very strict. It must follow the format "abcdefg"<123456789>. The important bits are:
(a) you must have the string section even if it is an empty string.
(b) you must have the angle brackets
(c) the number itself must contain numberals only and can contain any number of digits, but must not start with a single 0.

How long does my credit last for calls?
At MyDivert.com, your credit will NOT expire. However, accounts that show no activity at all for a period of longer than 6 months may be 'mothballed'. These accounts can be reactivated by simply logging in again with your user ID email address.

What is a SIP URI?
URI Means "Uniform Resource Identifier". A SIP URI is used to identify an entity to be addressed via SIP, just like an e-mail address identifies the e-mail recipient. The general format of a SIP URI is user@domain:port

"user" identifies the particular user to address. The user is usualy the extension number, or sip user number, if calls are being sent to an endpoint like a softphone or voip telephone. The user can also be a phone number, if this is supported by the SIP client (sip trunking for pbx).

"domain" can be a fully-qualified domain name or a numeric IP address.

"port" is optional, and if not specified then the standard value of 5060 will be used.
Examples of valid SIP URIs: 442035638753@sip.mydomain.com or user24@13.17.10.22:5090

Is There a Maximum Call Duration per DID?
There is no maximum limit on call duration for the DID numbers.

If you are experiencing cut, or dropped, incoming calls please open a support ticket from your account area.

How to configure FreePBX
FreePBX is an easy to use GUI (graphical user interface) that controls and manages Asterisk, the world's most popular open source telephony engine software.

To configure FreePBX with the mydivert.com trunk you will need the following information:

Peer Details - (FreePBX NOT behind NAT router)

[mydivert]
username=ACCOUNT
type=friend
srvlookup=yes
secret=PASSWORD
qualify=3600
nat=no
insecure=very
host=sip.mydivert.com
fromuser=ACCOUNT
fromdomain=sip.mydivert.com
dtmfmode=rfc2833
disallow=all
context=from-trunk
canreinvite=no
authuser=ACCOUNT
allow=alaw&ulaw&gsm&slinear&ilbc
sendrpid=yes

Peer Details - (FreePBX IS behind NAT router)

[general]
externip = PUBLIC-IP
localnet = LOCAL-IP

[mydivert]
username=ACCOUNT
type=friend
srvlookup=yes
secret=PASSWORD
qualify=3600
nat=yes
qualify = yes
insecure=very
host=sip.mydivert.com
fromuser=ACCOUNT
fromdomain=sip.mydivert.com
dtmfmode=rfc2833
disallow=all
context=from-trunk
canreinvite=no
authuser=ACCOUNT
allow=alaw&ulaw&gsm&slinear&ilbc
sendrpid=yes

Register String

ACCOUNT:PASSWORD@sip.mydivert.com/ACCOUNT

Note: replace ACCOUNT and PASSWORD with the relevant MyDivert credentials.

An Inbound Route needs to be set up too. We suggest for testing purposes leaving all fields blank/default settings except the destination which could perhaps be set to a voicemail box (to eliminate potential problems with extension device settings - during testing) - then using FreePBX to monitor the voicemail box.

If you wish to add a DID number to the incoming route please ensure that the SIP trunking service has been enabled for your mydivert.com account. You can then add the DID number in the context (named 'from-trunk' in the example above).

If you do not have SIP trunking enabled then add a route for the ACCOUNT number, or any/any.

{If any user wishes to extend or correct the information above, please send an email to support[at]mydivert.com - thank you}
