Can I Pick any DID Number from a list?
All our DID numbers are automatically assigned to the customer's account by our system. Therefore, it is not possible for customers to choose their local numbers from lists. We do not provide 'Golden' or 'vanity' numbers.

How to configure FreePBX
FreePBX is an easy to use GUI (graphical user interface) that controls and manages Asterisk, the world's most popular open source telephony engine software.

To configure FreePBX with the mydivert.com trunk you will need the following information:

Note: replace ACCOUNT and PASSWORD with the relevant MyDivert credentials.

An Inbound Route needs to be set up too. We suggest for testing purposes leaving all fields blank/default settings except the destination which could perhaps be set to a voicemail box (to eliminate potential problems with extension device settings - during testing) - then using FreePBX to monitor the voicemail box.

If you wish to add a DID number to the incoming route please ensure that the SIP trunking service has been enabled for your mydivert.com account. You can then add the DID number in the context (named 'from-trunk' in the example above).

If you do not have SIP trunking enabled then add a route for the ACCOUNT number, or any/any.

What is a Virtual Phone Number?
A Virtual Phone Number is a telephone number that forwards incoming calls to a pre-set telephone number chosen by the client.

For example, a company located in China can have a phone number in Los Angeles. Virtual Phone Numbers are very popular among Call Centers, which are physically located in one country, when in fact they really work in another. International virtual phone numbers are also popular with people currently residing in a foreign country, giving their family members and friends a virtual phone number so that they can contact them at a local call price rate.

Frequently, the subscriber can easily set the Virtual Phone Number to forward calls to different telephone numbers (both landlines and mobile phones) depending on his or her preference. For example, on work days incoming calls can be set to be forwarded to one's workplace, but on weekends to one's mobile phone.

What is the difference between DID and DDI?
DID means Direct Inward Dialling. In the VoIP world, that actually means nothing more than a regular phone number.

DDI is exactly the same. Different countries use different terms to indicate the same thing. For example in the USA people use DID. In Europe people use DDI.

Configuration example for Asterisk 1.6 pbx to send CID using mydivert.com sip trunk.

Enable Caller ID 'Set by user device' from your account page.

In your asterisk sip.conf file set something like this:

If you are using FreePBX here are some tips:

add sendrpid=yes to the trunk's PEER Details on the FreePBX GUI

The CallerID Number format is very strict. It must follow the format "abcdefg"<123456789>. The important bits are:
(a) you must have the string section even if it is an empty string.
(b) you must have the angle brackets
(c) the number itself must contain numberals only and can contain any number of digits, but must not start with a single 0.
